Stabbity doom!

I'm sure some of you have already found this by now. By the way, I actually have an account for this game now (yay for uber discounts!) so you all will have to help me suck at it sometime. I'm halfway decent with engineer and have no clue what to do with the rest.

someone had to do it, with a Sandvich!

Someone had to break the post-monopoly Crow was working on.

Meet the Sandvich!

What does the Sandvich do? Well, it heals the heavy for 120hp. It's his unlockable. But wait? What's the deal with being healed 120hp? Apprarently he is vulnerable for 4 seconds...like reloading for four seconds...so it's an extended crap. He's got an unlimited amount of them though...

Why would you want to do this? Apparently if you're defending you can take on waves of enemies without leaving your post...thats the idea.

Regardless, he vid is entertaining. It's shot from the perspective of the sandvich in the fridge.

TF2 Gold Rush Update

New TF2 update is finally out. We now have the new gold rush map, an item system, and about a bazzillion new achievements for medic. Apparently there's free tf2 play from the 2nd until the 4th of May, so we'll have to see if we can get Cyrusse to join us. =)
More info at the Gold Rush Update site.
Lets get updating!

Valve and TF2 love...

I once told Def that I would give Valve my virginity if I could. I still stand by that comment.

Here's an interview with "the Valve dudes" by Leigh Alexander. I'm not sure if I've mentioned before, I like to hit up her blog, sexyvideogameland, every now and again because, well, she puts a lot of thought into her articles. They always seem to contemplate what it means to be actively engaging in a virtual world. To add, her father was a games journalist and she's kind of carrying up the tradition. But I digress...

According to the article posted on Gamasutra and what makes me turn all rosy lipped is just how aware Valve is of what they're doing and how they're propelling the PC game industry forward. They're coming up with new business models and content distribution models. They're fully aware that some would say PC gaming is dead...but they're not backing down. I heart them.

Hey...wait a minute, didn't I just gush over NIN's involvement with propelling the music industry? And wait, Valve totally had me in HS with Half-Life...NIN had me with Downward Spiral...man, we were all just cool kids who knew who to support!

And to make this the biggest baddest Valve orgy session I must add the following (and latest as of this post) VGcats comic:

More TF2 griefing....

This one is a lot more entertaining than the last grief post. Especially now that we've all been engineers, you can have new found appreciation for the trust people put in you and where that teleporter is headed...

Make sure to stick around for the TF2 spawn-point trivia challenge, and take note that people eventually start playing along =)

Team Fortress 2 statistics breakdown, and some other stuff

Valve has released a nice little statistical breakdown of all the classes, as well as "heat-maps" which detail where the most deaths occur on the maps. I got this info from Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

Enjoy!

Also, the weekend with seeing the Dead Sea Scrolls with Crow, the family, and my sister's friends was F*^&ing amazing! The best description, "A beautiful weekend." Expect some pics and yakuza madness over the next couple of days. And although I drove LIKE A MADMAN I'm still excited to drive down next weekend. It'll be good times!

[edit: just wanted to put the call out for any potential TF2 players this evening. I'm thinking around nine or ten, just for an hour or two. I'm flexible, just call if you prefer earlier or later. Hey, maybe we can start trying to organize WoW nights with the blog. This week looks bad as I've got a crap-load of stuff to do before heading out of town again. Next week seems fairly free...think about it. k? you thinking? k' bye now.]

And now for something completely different

I would normally just add this to my last post, but thought posting this separate would help to more effectively transition from heavy to light.

Remember, I lied about the last TF2 post...this video pretty much shows all the griefing tactics some people use in TF2. I had only heard of these until this point. Enjoy!

I swear, one of my last TF2 posts...

Some of you may have seen these vids, sorry for spamming the front page.

You just need to watch them. Make sure to click for the "standard definition" option, otherwise a popup opens and you need to DL some extra software. Not worth the hassle and defeats the purpose of embedding these vids in the first place.

The following is essentially an animation feature, detailing some of went behind TF2's stylization:

And in the animation feature spirit of TF2's style, here's an article about it.

Yeah, probably not my last TF2 post...sorry, crossed my fingers on that one.
