RIP Tim Russert

From Wikipedia:

He was NBC News' Washington Bureau Chief and also hosted the self-titled CNBC/MSNBC weekend interview program Tim Russert. He was a frequent correspondent and guest on NBC's The Today Show and Hardball. He co-hosted the network's presidential Election Night coverage and presented the polling results of the NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey on the NBC Nightly News. Russert collapsed and died in NBC's Washington studios on Friday June 13, 2008"

Kind of shocking as he was only 58. Sad because I actually remember this guy being the voice of reason sometimes. Granted, that was a long time ago when I used to actually watch news on TV. Anyways, I'm sure he's jut got tougher "work" ahead of him in the astral plane.

Moth in a Lantern

The rough rocks of the pool seemed lost inside a building, unreal in their blatant naturalness. Surrounded only by walls, they might have been content, but the ceiling held them captive, removing all pretenses that they were anything more than the sixth face of a manufactured cube, a bubbling spring transformed into a bath, maintaining a resigned gray longing for the sky. Unknowably far below the reflective waterline, the slabs of stone rippled into a murky alien darkness.. .

Get ready to experience the web in a whole new way! No, I'm not Santos Bot disguised as Lorigga your beloved cup member (that sounds so dirty), but a web/technosexual(not really)/open source enthusiast who's had the pleasure of using firefox for the last few months.

Firefox 3, is set to release Tuesday June 17th! And to kick off the gooey web goodness June 17th is officially download firefox 3 download day. Well no one with any real authority declared such a thing, but you know how these things work on the inter-tubulars. What can I say, they want to set the Guinness book of records record for "the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours."

Here's the official Spread Firefox download day website. You can even pledge to download firefox and somewhere in the information web a memory gate gets an electron! Thats right your click can give feed one starving memory gate/memory block for as long as the storage medium exists or until it's wiped clean and used for other more important information.

Anyways, why not contribute to this useless goal? Firefox 3 is amazing to say the least. I guarantee you it's already stable with the current release candidate. I've had zero problems with this current version.

ZOMFG! New world of warcraft expansion!

'Warcraft' Sequel Lets Gamers Play A Character Playing 'Warcraft'

Essentially it's called World of World of Warcraft and it allows players to play an avatar playing World of Warcraft. Pretty amazing huh? I think I'd create a character called Mr.Watanabe and he'll have a pimped out rig that's so good it performs better than mine!

TOTALLY UNRELATED UPDATE - 2:30ish
So I'm working at a coffee shop right now. When I first sat at my table I noticed an odd smell, like when a building has water damage and it's kind of funky but you deal. Well! It would seem the cafe is ventilated in such a way that I get a small taste of this smell every now and then. In fact, I've sensed enough to realize it kind of smells like funky feet. I look up and around, my head directs from side to side. I notice an off green color on the seat in back of me. I glance down only to notice that the dude sitting at the table behind me has his feet proped up on the seat directly to my back! And he's got no shoes on! WTF! Who goes to a public space with fairly tight quarters, takes their shoes off, and puts them right next to someone. He's not even a hippie! I'm totally judging him here, but he looks like one of those "I own everything" assholes.

Bill Moyers at NCMR 2008

This is the speech Bill Moyers gave at the National Conference for Media Reform 2008. If you don't know him he's a journalist for PBS and apparently was formerly it's president. It's probably one of the best speeches I've heard. I doubt anyone will watch/listen to this in its entirety, though I do recommend it, as it rounds out at 39mins. It has a strong positive message despite pointing out the harsh realities our country faces with our relationship to media and the media's to the government.
