Saturday

Well today is Saturday. Just wanted to update you all about a few things. For one WOW is fucked for now. Ive played with many many things many many times and nothing seems to stop this glitch that it has built up after I updated my video card drivers. Even rolling back to old drivers hasnt solved the issue, and Lord knows that should have worked (or perhaps he knows exactly why it shouldn't haha). I have not given up yet but I just wanted to warn you all that you may not see me on WoW for a little while, and unfortunately, you may not see me on WOW until I update my graphics card because this problem is being stubborn and theres only so many options I can try before I decide to cancel my account. It will only be until I have a new setup going on, than Id try the whole process over again, Im assuming things would be different with a different card and different drivers. Hell, I may even purchase a legitimate copy of Windows for this comp. Well see.

In other updates my Birthday is slowly approaching. Sort of like some other folks that I know, I wonder who they could be? I really hope that you guys might be able to make the trip down. I already reserved the spot so its pretty much if yall come yall will have fun. Ron Im still looking for the perfect image for you to create a flier out of. Im sure Ill have it by the end of today. Nothing that fancy this time like I mentioned, just some text over an image should be fine. I would really love for you to put my image over another one again, that was just so amazing in its simple slickness! But its been done before and I dont want to come off as cheezy. My head on Wonkas great idea, my head on ohh lets say Simba from Lion King, not such a great idea. You see what I mean? I dont really know how to make it work so I think Ill go (be I I mean you haha) with something much more simpler but I still want some sort of image to send out to peoples myspace/email/blog. Damn you Ron you did such a great job last year I cant think of any way to top it! Ill send you that new image asap.

In other other news Portal and Team Fortress II are amazing! The first time I played Portal was like the first time I played Mario 64. It was just so innovative, I felt like I had so much freedom to do whatever I wanted with the portal, its just a really fun experience. To those of us who can play, do so!

The sacred 3

Well heres a poem that Ive been working on for a little while but I wrote in just under a morning. This is often the case with my poetry. I say that I wrote it in very little time, but in actuality the concepts, the images, those tend to come in out of my imagination for up to a week before I wrote the poem. So more or less "writing" the poem for me consists of sitting down and pulling out loose threads of thought onto one physical space. It usually doesnt take me to long when I have a central theme. This one has been popping in out of my head for a little bit but I didnt know how best to phrase it. Yesterday a very simple rhyme flow came into my head while I was driving (often on freeways and subways I tend to create flows in my mind.......) and it ended up giving me the opening I needed to get this out of my head and into a piece. Its still very very rough (as usual haha, Im so lazy yall). It needs some editing and perhaps I could change around a few lines within this same poem, but all in all I am satisfied with the first draft (or else I wouldnt post it). Trip out on than random things that come in and out of my head and Happy Thanksgiving yall! Get out there and get fatter! I aim to. Peace.



He is me
I am He
We are 2 out of the 3

1 is the father
The other the son
The 3rd is the Spirit we both sprang from

The father in Heaven
The son upon Earth
To the Spirit they both have equal worth

The sacred 3 must be 1
There is only so much we can ignore

So I've been reading articles on the MTG website and came across this one about changelings. It's an interesting read on it's development as a gameplay mechanic. I still think they're ugly as hell though. =P

Morningtide art preview

Morningtide, the next MTG set, seems to be taking the tribes to a whole new level. Check out this little art scan and admire a badass looking treefolk.





The forums seem to be abuzz with speculation that Morningtide will consist of classes (rogues, warriors, shamans, etc...). I'm not sure how they would implement it but I must say, the featured treefolk seems to be a little more advanced than all that we've seen in Lorwyn.

Gabe Newell Interview

RPS (Rock, Paper, Shotgun) has an exclusive interview with Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve.

The interview touches upon some of Valve's current ideology and where they're going. As I was telling Steve, Valve has become one of the bigger third party production companies and definitely seems to be playing their cards right.

Well the new offshoot of In the cup has officially been created. We shall be called In the text. Each month or so we will elect new books to read. I nominate that we generally try to read "classics" because if not I doubt we will ever leave the sci fi/fantasy realm (and besides its much more fun to read books that none of us have read and the classic genre Im sure has tons and tons of books we havent touched). However In the text is a democratic organization and all book nominations will be up for discussion at the close of the last text. So far we have 3 members. To join its easy, just pick up the current text and dig in. We are currently reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. Cmon...you know you want to be cool like us!

Now to the first post about Pride and Prejudice. Ive read up to Ch. 6. I promised Ron I wouldnt read more but that was sort of a one day thing. After tonight all bets are off. Besides, its such an easy read. I find myself turning the pages with ease and Im eager to find out whats going to happen next. Its all about marriage but I find myself wondering, will Mr. Bingley go for Lizzy or Jane, will Mr. Darcy continue to be rude and cold, or most likely, will Mrs. Bennett give Mr. Bennett a heart attack from all her crazy rants and "nerves". You just have to keep reading to find out!

I can see why I couldnt handle this type of novel when I was in high school. Marriage and social customs of semi-aristocratic societies was not exactly my idea of a fun read. Now however from a much more removed perspective I can appreciate the rigid practices of these small towns for the connections they have with our own modern rigid practices that are very much still in place with regard to if a man is successful than he must of course be looking for a wife. Brilliant observations into a world so superficial, yet her subtlety in relating the joy that everyone gets out of "playing the game" and the entertainment it causes them (without the goal of marriage it seems many of the characters would not even have lives) makes the whole lifestyle much more endearing when being portrayed from Austin's eyes. I cant help but love the rat race that Im currently in, I suppose it would be very unfair for me to expect that people in Austin's day and age didnt both loathe and love their own rat race. I have much more to say about the writing style and the characters but Ill wait until I read to Ch. 10. Id like to have a bit more to comment on before I get into the style. Just wanted to share that so far so good! Pleasantly surprised to say the least. Long live In the text!

Okay, so I was reading through Gizmodo of all places and came across an excerpt from this book. So now I'm sitting here wondering wtf happened to the Mary Celeste. I wish I had never read it. I will never know for sure. ARRG! ><

He strikes again! (beware of the orange box...)

It is official. Mr. Watanabe has been seen in the L.A. area. Using one of his many guises he was able to infiltrate into one of our agents homes. He claimed to be an old friend and he swore many times that he was not a bot. After that were are not sure what exactly transpired but the agents computer was completely destroyed. After awaking from his coma our agent had this to say. "He comes baring gifts........dont let him on your computer...........do not believe his lies.........beware the orange box......." He is currently undergoing psychiatric help. The marmots win again people. How long can this go on?

What I learned today (yesterday...): How to identify a northern harrier

"Hey, Dad, it's your white butt bird!"

Yesterday I went for a hike with my parents in the nature preserve where my dad volunteers and this is what I learned...

The northern harrier is:
- about the size and shape of a redtail hawk
- travels via a funny flap-flap glide movement about 10 feet off the ground
- has a big white stripe on it's butt right above its tail
Yay!

reformating

Well I had to reformat my computer because it was having serious issues regarding the graphics car drivers and the system drivers. It left me out of a computer for the entire day and even now I still have so much more to upload and download. The good news is that after about 5 hours WoW is almost playable and Half Life 2 is running properly. So although it was a pain in the ass it seems that starting fresh was worth it. The bad news is that ever since I started clean it seems like processes are running slower. Im not sure what I could have possibly done but I guess I have some kinks to work out in the upcoming week. Im sure in between the rebuilding of my comp I will be interested in playing WoW (considering all the hassle it took me to get it running again I sort of have to play it) so please join me. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was fantastic, even if my comp did go under, at least I got to play a little magic. Take it easy yall.
