Pyramids anyone?

Photobucket

Yo! This is the most serious post I have made thus far. There has been something that I have needed to do ever since I was a little boy and I saw pictures of the great Aztec pyramids. I need to see them with my own eyes, and if possible, Id like to walk along them. Now I know that every single year that passes another Pyramid in Mexico is closed to public because they want to prevent early decay caused by tourism. I completely agree with their sentiment so I figure I just have to get my ass over to Mexico quick, fast, and in a hurry so that I can still go check out whats left to be seen. Anything not public runs along the lines of Indiana Jones, with the possibility of being shot by local government/pirates included! I think I may just be cool on discovering the lost sacred relics of one of the most significant cultures that has ever graced the Americas but it would be nice to go check out the public ones, if only from the bottom. Whose coming with me? I know that Lorenzo and I talked about going to Mexico city (a good location to start if one wants to catch the major pyramids) back in high school. I said wed go when we graduated...well thats already half done, but Id say in many ways I also have graduated, so I think the time has come to collect on that promise. As for everyone else....yall like traveling, hiking, and looking at cool ass ancient shit, why not tag along?! Now I know everyone wants to go to Japan, and I know that may be first priority on most peoples list. I can say this....dude I want to go to Japan! I just have to do this first. Its my culture, my passion (ancient civilizations), my history, and most importantly, my fucking backyard. Its so close, Id feel silly to spend a lot more money to go to India, Tibet, and Egypt (all of these places I do plan on going to for sure in the next 8 years) when I could spend a lot less, do a lot less traveling, and see something equally as astounding. Granted Mexico City is not exactly on par of Cairo in terms of architecture, and air quality (lungs hurting just in anticipation), the ancient pyramids that claim that region of Mexico/Belize are, for me, equally significant finds for modern man, and more importantly, just fucking cool! I was thinking about planning this trip for the summer of 2009. I am dead serious. I will be saving, planning, and coordinating in terms of plain tickets, hotel rooms, bus fair, and pyramid tours and I will keep everyone else up to date with all the info I accumulate. I just wanted to plant the seed in everyones mind so that in about 14 months well all be boarding planes to go on an amazing adventure, as opposed to enrolling in some cheap ass summer class for creative popsicle house building or meditating with monkeys, wait on second thought that last one sounds pretty cool, but not quite as cool as going to see pyramids. Well see what happens but I know for sure that I will be there.

p.s. if you go with me to Mexico, Ill go with you to Japan. thats not a bribe. just a promise. haha.

as someone who has been to a decent sized pyramid in Chechen Itza,
(http://www.eastofthesun.co.uk/Galleries/Gallery%2015b/index.htm)
I am so down if you want to go.

Aww... I was looking forward to the popsicle house building... hehe

That sounds really cool, and although I think that would mean sacrificing a Yosemite trip, I'm sure it would be worth it.

Awesome! I already feel like the trip is cementing itself into becoming reality, as opposed to my dreams when I was just a kid. This feels tangible. I will do lots of great research guys trust that I want to make it the most affordable and yet most rewarding trip possible. Im extremely eager, and ready to make it happen.

What?, youve been to Chechen Itza? You sly dog What. Beating me to the punch of this cosmic joke. Kick ass man youl have to tell me about it when next we meet (Saul Williams here I come!).

I'm there.

I need to go.

Crow, if you need any help, all you need do is ask. Perhaps we could divide some tasks up? I'm very good at researching things on the internet and actually have some free time these days. Perhaps I could do some footwork on hotels or food or actual tourist opportunities.

It's a return home.

We might as well utilize the fact that we have a community blog!

I elect that any posts associated with this trip have the tag "pyramid trip" and I will see if I can figure out a way to get a permanent link up for the all posts with the same tag...I think I already see how =)

Awesome, nicely done with the label suggestion Lorigga. As dividing the task, sure! Im really interested about pyramid tours and how far advanced one has to book them. Im under the impression that you dont have to get them too far, but I could be wrong. There are a few pyramids near Mexico city, it may be better if the both of us were researching in case one of us finds a better tour bus/deal. Thanks for the help!

Oh and as for all the rest, like Hotels, air fare, shit if any of us find a good deal Id say we should share it. I definitely plan on taking responsibility of doing the research but anyone who finds something slick should feel free to share. Ive yet to dive in but Im sure that will be time in the upcoming weeks. Thanks again for all the support. It will be so much more rewarding for me if I can share the experience with all of you. Peace.

Just so everyone knows, there's a link up for "pyramid trip" related posts. It's under the marmot, who seems to have visited Curves. Cause you know, they're kind of self-conscious. Why is there no Curves for men? I would hit it up if I wasn't so damn sexy.
