This is the Rhynochocyon udzungwensis, a type of giant elephant shrew, a crazy-snouted, cat-sized critter that was recently discovered in Tanzania. It's not actually a shrew, and is most closely related to elephants, sea cows, aardvarks and hyraxes. It's fur is pretty, but the snout just freaks me out.

that thing is crazy but come on... there was the first new monkey in the last 83 years.
Don't get me wrong miniature elephant rats things a cool and all, and their a bit more cute, and they might smell better, but its a new monkey. With a mohawk!
Wha wha! New monkey with a mohawk!
Increible! I wanna see without looking it up for myself!
I wonder if scientists will be able to keep up with you "cute furry thing of the day" posts...I think they had a panel to figure out how to maintain a consistent effort for finding cute furry things just for your posts.
For the record, I don't think monkeys are cute. Mostly creepy. However, I will try to track this thing down for Lorenzo.
what monkeys not cute? cmon? have you ever seen a spider monkey? what about those little ones that look like squirrels? chimps are sort of crazy, but than again so is man, I got love for em. I guess Ive always been more of an ape man.
