In anticipation of the coming depression

Hey all,

Been wanting to post something of semi-substance lately. So here it is, "The poor man's meal" it seems some people have started posting a series of videos featuring Clara, a 96 year old woman, cooking meals she would make during the depression. As I've talked to people and read articles online, it seems people are trying to take a few tips from the older generations that have had to deal with "hard times." I found it rather entertaining. Bon Appetit!

Hmm, it would seem that I'll have to substitute something cheap for the hot dogs...any suggestions? I think Soy might work, but I would have to merinate / do something to it which would drive the cost up. Perhaps a vegetable? Or maybe a fruit? hmmmm. Suggestions, suggestions!

my aunt cooks something similar to this but with kielbasa or something instead of hot dog and no tomato sauce. it's pretty gewd.

yall barely finding out about poor mans soup? hehe, I say soup because thats what my grandma used to call it, she just used to use a little more tomato sauce, it was never a soup, ate it with a fork, but for sure it was more "liquidy" than what this lady is striving for. same shit, different old lady. hehe, my mom used to make this for us 3 times a week back when the family wasnt doing so well, fuck the depression, these days Im eating steak!

oh by the way, the fact that we have no kids in this house and that all three members in the house have well paying jobs really helps with the avoiding poor mans soup, I could still eat it if I liked, hell I think my ma made it for us like 2 months ago just because it tastes good, but I guess what Im really saying is I feel very fortunate to be able to live and see my parents finally able to afford everything theyve always wanted.

Steak Man! Big pimping! hehe
it's nice to be able to eat good stuff for sure, but sometimes the cheap stuff all thrown together is just as good if not better. i think it depends on your mood and what the old taste buds are craving.

oh yeah, Lorigga asked for hot dog alternatives! do you think soyrizo might work in its place?
