Cupiversary!

In the Cup: bringing you shit in half full / half empty cups for 1 year! (Well technically this blog has been around since the 4th, but it didn’t take on its full cupness until the 9th, and I know it’s still the 8th, but better early than forgetting entirely…)

I think we can all agree that this has been an eventful year, and I know I’m glad the Cup was around to help us all share our adventures, writing, discoveries, marmots, etc with each other. Would the art form of pee-ku have ever been invented otherwise? I think not.

Back when we first started, I had no idea what to expect, but I definitely didn’t foresee us getting so much use out of this blog. I think it really has helped keep us all connected in spite of physical distance and hectic schedules. I especially didn’t expect the literary turn that it has taken at times, but I’ve really enjoyed getting to see Crow’s work, and this blog actually got me to try writing poetry again, which I highly doubt would have happened without a friendly forum in which to share it. In the Text was an interesting experiment that I think we should try again (maybe next summer when people have some time), preferably with a book I haven’t memorized this time.

And really, where else do you find blog entries labeled “Gollum-looking-mother-fuckers” and “Dan’s soul.” Good times. Happy birthday, Cup! Here’s to many more years of ray guns, shit, and of course friendship.

Yay to the cup! Nice marmot b-day cake picture. You know I love this blog. I look forward to reading all of your guys posts every day. It doesn't matter how obscure or random it often times strikes a cord with me. I need things like this in order to feel connected with the Bay, and more importantly, with the great friends that I snagged while I was there. My life is more hectic now than ever but not a day goes by where I don't sit and ponder on the Bay, and the simple flow, less people, less smog, everyone moves just a little slower, but everyone's mind is moving soo fast. The cup is often the only window I have back into that world, and without I would be starved for input, for updates, for another source of light/love. I need every source I can get these days, to remain on the path, and focused to my purpose. Like Ive said so many times, every single action I take is not just for me, but for all of you as well, I rep the cup, brigade, and our general clique, every time I achieve anything. One day I hope to be able to return, sharper and brighter than ever. I just have to tackle L.A. first.

As for the writing. Much of what I have posted on this blog has been absolute shit. But it has served a function, besides just serving as an emotional outlet, I was able to get the creative ball rolling so that now that I am forced to write for classes Im not so intimidated to just sit down and let it flow. In addition, some of the lyrical, sing song poetry, I love with all my heart. Its me ya know, its a style I wont just leave behind. So I thank you all thoroughly for giving me a space to develop shit, in a cup, that later has lead to gems, and gold.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, you look like a monkey aaaaaannnnndddd you smell like one too!

Wow, a year of the cup....that's pretty insane if you ask me. Well, I LOVE it! There is no better blog out there for me personally...and that's because I'm an active participant in it. Who would have thought participation would be such a fabulous element of reading a blog =P

Crow, you're too humble regarding your poems. But then again, that's a good thing. So keep on writing, they're very good and getting better and better with each revision.

Cyrusse, I LOVE the marmot and portal cake...does that mean that the marmots have succesfully finished navigating through GLADOS' maze?

Here's to all the wonderful people making this thing a living, breathing space!
