Defmoose Anime Pick: Soul Eater

So here is a screenie of the new show I've been watching. Has a very cool visual design, with the sun and the moon having freaky faces and so far has kept me pretty engaged for the first 10 episodes. Basically Death has set up a school to train people to become weapon and weapon master pairs to ensure that the Demon God is not reborn. Simple no? After an ep or two its mostly clear whats going on. Good mix of comedy and action so check check check it out. Watch the 1:30 minute intro below and tell me you aren't at least a little interested. Torrents can be found at the Tadashi fansub site. (SD is lower quality, 720p is what i've been dl'ing)

Anime Night Fall 2008 First Showing

Tonight's showing is the movie Beyond the Clouds and will be at 159 Mulford at UCB. Can't quite tell exactly what it's about but it seems an alternate post-ww2 reality with weird stuff going on in Japan. It's gotten decent reviews on AnimeNfo.com: 8.2/10.0 (58 reviews) so we'll be there with bells on. The Director, Makoto Shinkai, has been called the "New Miyazaki", though he says that is an overstatement, we shall see. [via Cal Animage Alpha]

I was just talking with Lorenzo about this last night at the gym. Apparently when the RNC comes to town you lose all your rights, as homes of protesters were raided by police in full riot gear with automatic weapons drawn. Sounds a bit much to me. The warrants used to pull the harassment off sounds like a load of shit as well, some being for "fire code violations" others for possession of molotov cocktails. Last time I checked, peaceful gatherings were guaranteed to citizens by the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. There was even a journalist of 20 years arrested because she wanted to know what was going on. Well at least the activists haven't lost their laughter. Hopefully that day will never come. Ground Control to David Bowie

Hey guys, here I am in Deep space 9 transmitting a signal from David Bowie's nipple!

Just informing the cup community that I am indeed alive and well. Not too necessary considering that I've chatted with Crow and Moose over the last couple of days.

I guess I just felt like sharing with everyone that I'm in love. In love in a way which I've never experienced. As I've mentioned to people here and there, it's magical and both of us have wished for an experience like this. But we're living it. We both feel on a VERY deep level that we're each other's compliments. We have our intuitions about it all, but at the very least we know that we have a solid start for our relationship. We've gotten blessings from family, friends, and co-workers. Every moment I've spent with this woman has been bliss. I've done something right in my life to give myself the opportunity to experience these last few weeks and just kind of innately know there are many more to come.

So I'll be posting less, but hope to post something non-update/love related sometime this week.
