Reflections on Vegas and Beyond

First let me apologize for not resizing my image. I am hot, I am tired, I am hungry, but I still wanted to post a pic. hehe.

Second, Vegas was insanely fun! I spent way too much money but I had a blast. Drinking, smoking cigars, gambling, living it up! I thought the cuppers who are going to go see Nails in less than a week might like to know how amazing the set list will be! I wont ruin anything but I hope you wont be offended by telling you that he did not play a single song off of The Slip! As much as that offended me (what can I say I love it all...lol) I appreciated it even more because it gave him time to play tons of shit off Downward Spiral that I had never heard live, and lots of stuff off of Broken that I had never live, and lots of stuff off of the B-Side singles (Further down the spiral, Things Fall Apart) that I had never heard live. He is going out with bang folks! He announced it was the last tour as NIN so please enjoy. I thought he was brilliant, I was barely drunk at all for a change, and thus I can remember the entire set list in order. Im happy this time I was able to just let go and absorb every second. I owed it to myself, and to Trent.

Third, about my poetry. Too anyone who read any thank you so much for your time. I just wanted to say that I am not satisfied with these poems in one sense, each one sprang out of an assignment that had to be turned in, and not out of my heart. Now I inserted my heart into them, thats why I was so proud and willing to share, but I dont think it accurately reflects my level of skill when it comes to writing. Ive been working on new pieces, and a fiction short story, Id like to share that with everyone even more so than the pieces for my portfolio, now its fun again, ya know? Thanks for the consideration, I will still be looking at these funky little exercise poems in the future so if you get the chance to comment thats cool, but if not thats cool too, Im ready to move on to the next thing. Im glad to be able to share the experience through the blog. Thanks Lorigga for having the good sense to create this blog and thanks to all the rest of you guys for sticking with it. I have more news and exciting goodies for you all but I'll let those surface at the proper time. Until than Im reading all the posts regularly now that Im not in school. Keep em comin'!

Picture is all better now, yay!
I'm looking forward to friday (not the trying to sneak away from work at three to avoid traffic part, but the concert yes). I'm sure it's going to be great. It always is, even at sucky old Shoreline. I'm excited to see what kind of light/fog/shadow/chupacabra madness he comes up with this time.

Glad you had a good time! And when the hell did he decide he wasn't touring as NIN anymore!?!? That's just crazy. Has he said he's going to name his new band soon or is he just gonna tour as Trent Reznor?

Yeah Shoreline is poo, but hopefully the music will counteract it. Here's hopin.

Still haven't read the pomes, but I will!

You said you said this! hehe
So.... question: was Vegas a NIN show or a Jane's Addiction show? Because NIN opened at ours and confused the shit out of a lot of people as far as I could tell. It worked out ok because we got cold and cut out part way through Jane's Addiction and didn't get stuck in horrible horrible traffic trying to escape the venue. I'm hoping Trent didn't pop out again at the end and do something cool, but if he did, I guess we'll find it on youtube.

This is the set list we got:
(a couple people posted it on the NIN forums and I think it matches what I remember)

Home
1,000,000
Terrible Lie
Discipline
March of the Pigs
Piggy
Metal
The Becoming
Burn
Gave Up
The Fragile
The Way Out is Through
Wish
Echoplex
Survivalism
The Day the World Went Away
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole
Hurt

If I had a choice I would have preferred less Slip (though I'm really glad he did 1000000, I love that one) and tossed in Eraser or Reptile, but overall, it was good. Gave Up, the Becoming, and Terrible Lie were awesome, and I'm happy any time something off The Fragile gets played, since it usually seems a bit neglected. Anything he does live is good as far as I can tell. So I'm a little jealous that you got more of the old stuff, but a nails show of any sort is better than any other show I could imagine going to.

ya, Im pissed too! I wanted Discipline, and I know you could have done without! haha. Ya, no slip at all during my show, absolutely none, wonder why? The rest of the set list is very similar though. Instead of Echoplex he did the weird track at the end of broken, not suck, the other one, too physical? its a dope jam. I wish I had heard Echoplex though...damn wtf?! hahahahahaha it was such a great show, just like you said, all live Trent is awesome.

uhmm......he opened up for Janes Addiction at our show as well, I didnt want to mention that because that annoyed me, but your right it did work out. Me and Bryant just left, we didnt even hear one Addiction song!! hahahaha we were like Janes a who? who gives a fuck! so we rolled out and I bought a shirt, ya we avoided tons of traffic and we went and got drunk about 2 hours early than we would have otherwise. We left the show around 10. I was happy, but confused. ?? Oh well. I know Trent was the main biller, perhaps he did it out of sympathy? whatever. I got what I needed out of the experience, hope the Jane's Addiction fans were half as happy as I was when I left. Glad you enjoyed your show as well.

That Trent...he knows how to get the buzz a flowing huh?

It's nice to see everyone so excited about the shows...crazy news regarding touring!

I LOVE the NIN graphic by the way.

I found the graphic a while ago. It was some promo tour thing back in the 90s. Dont know who drew it but its cool.
