Swine Flu
So seems like some of you haven't been keeping up with the news so I thought I'd post this vid I found today about the state of the Swine Flu craziness. The shit has already spread around the world and if it reaches pandemic status it could seriously hamper economic recovery. Let's cross our fingers that it doesn't get that bad.

ok, those comments were all mine, I made 2 comments with errors and felt the need to correct myself here.
My question was if anyone really felt that trade would cease or if news media is trying to sensationalize everything as usual. I do acknowledge that traveling would cease, and that we make tons of money off of people who travel to the United States, but I dont really see how losing that capitol would be enough to hamper economic recovery. What do yall think?
In addition I thought the pointing lady at the beginning of the clip was hilarious. As if to say, your next! Moose, is this from FOX news? hehe
Quality.
Looking at the wiki entry for swine flu, you see that there have been other pandemics. But I'll need to actually read the entries in order to say anything useful about it.
I'll need to read more to form any opinion on the impact of this thing. But it really does feel like the "flavor of the month" in terms of crazy news stories.
wash your hands and carry hand sanitizer =)
Was just reading an article about how the news media is sensationalizing this to promote ratings. That doesn't mean it's not possible that this could turn into a huge deal, but for the moment being scared of it is silly. The economy would only be affected if it reached pandemic status and even then I don't think people know to what extent, but atm it's wait and see and prepare for the CDC. And that lady totally has a "You're Next!" or "Get him!" look about her.
ya my Mom and I were talking about it, she listens to many different radio news programs, and she said that this was blown way out of proportion according to most of the media she had been listening to. For one "regular" flu kills about 1,000 people a year, this flu hasnt even come close to that figure, nor will it because they already have the anti-virus and they know what type of medications are necessary to cure people. I guess what made it strange initially was that it killed some healthy adults, versus the flu tends to get elderly and children. Still, from what my mom was saying the symptoms are actually less dramatic than "regular" flu if you are an adult. Meaning the tightness in the chest and shortness of breath is equated to a bad asthma attack. I would prefer some shortness of breath over throwing up ridiculously any day! It seems that this whole story is a joke, which is exactly what I thought from the beginning.
