Resident Evil and old Diablo tricks

I just beat Resident Evil 5. It was very fun. The final boss was worthy of all the build up it took to reach him. Although for me it was easy because of a little trick Lorenzo and I came up with for Diablo I for the Playstation. Ya see, we would load up one character with lots of goodies, and one character would be naked, than wed give all the goodies to the naked guy, and he would save it, but the guy who gave up all the goodies, he would not, when you exit and enter the game both characters have all the stuff, and no one loses anything, so if you repeat the process many many times you can double up on all the cool items. Its cheap, but its not our fault game programmers couldnt figure out a way around the little secret. Well it turns out the trick works exactly the same for RE5. I ended up with well over 100 magnum rounds for the last boss, hehe. I still had fun, and although it curbed the difficulty, I had completed well over half the game without using the trick, and was about ready for some ammo reprieve. The best part is that now I have unlocked the Mercenaries Mode! Hours and hours of RE5 gameplay still await, once this semester is over.

In other news I beat GTA 4 about a month ago but never posted about it. It was so much fun! That game also did not dissapoint, the final mission was ridiculous with dozens and dozens of gangsters to kill, and a final chase involving a helicopter and a high speed boat. I died 3 times trying to fly the helicopter close enough to the boat so that I could shoot it, but far enough from it so that I wouldnt crash. It was very challenging, and the ending was extremely slick. The entire storyline for that game was very engrossing, Niko even gets email from his mom periodically. It reminded me of that game Shenmue I used to have for Dreamcast. In that game you had a job, could play video games, darts, and even go on dates, but you didnt have to do anything in particular. GTA 4 was the same exact way plus stealing cars and killing random people with assorted weapons. I have to say, I prefer GTA4. hehe. The game was so much fun that after the final credits roll, when the game jumps you back into the world (as opposed to a title screen) I didnt turn it off, like I would have for games Ive played in the past. Instead I went and take the speed boat I had just been pursuing for a joy ride around the the island of whats supposed to be Manhattan, and I went and stole another helicopter to fly around the city as the sunset one last time. Over the radio they were talking about the final boss I had just killed! It was awesome, there was additional storyline regarding who might take his place, and how the dynamic of power for Liberty City may shift. It was completely random and very fitting for a game that ran deeper than most rpgs these days.

All in all I give RE5 a 10 and GTA4 a 10. Xbox 360 is pretty slick. Now if only I could figure out how to hack it...hehe

Thanks for posting this!

First, I'm glad that you got to play through RE5. Considering the history you have with the RE series, you had to.

I can't believe the Diablo hack worked just the same. I will always regard that week as one of the best of my youth. It's amazing that with such a cutting edge game such a simple trick could work....I wonder if they anticipated that and said screw it or if they genuinely didn't think about it.

Props for completing GTA IV, man, you're totally hitting up all the titles. Bravo.

grats on beating the game. you totally could have done it without the exploit tho! Look forward to playing a little more next time we're in town. That is if you're not sick of it hehe.

LORENZO!!! When are we having lunch!?

Ill never be sick of RE5, right now its all about the mercenaries, ya I could have beat without the cheat, but what can I say, they shouldnt have left the glitch. By the way, I really think they knew about it and just said fuck it, it would be tricky to work it out AND have both characters on completely separate save files.

eh cheating has its values and it does make many games much more fun.
I still haven't even touched those two games good to hear they're worth the time though. as for hacking it... it's not that bad man you can do it. All the info is out there.

I guess I should do my research, but my primary concern is the achievements and the xbox live stuff, I wouldnt want to lose all of that just for free games, but than again free games...hehe. The next question is, does my current DS sd card that allows me to play free DS games work with the DSI. Im assuming it would, but I need to borrow someones to test it.
