The Indestructible
Nameless; just call me I AM
The mangy black street dog howling at the moon for recognition
Ageless; older than the cold blue Earth
My history predates time
Faceless; one of countless
Grains of sand on a never ending beach
Feels so rough as it slips through your fingers
Indestructible

Very interesting, was for anything in particular?
So was this inspired by Jet from Bebop? LOL! maybe it's Lorenzo's post's fault that the first thing I thought by the second line was "Jet?" It totally fit's his character!
It's so short and yet it feels so full and complete. Good stuff!
I wrote this poem for myself from this idea that kept popping into my mind that I cant be killed and that I will never die. Indestructible. The rest came out as support for the initial idea. I never once mention the lack of death in the poem so in a way it has changed its focus slightly, but I hope the spirit of the idea of being indestructible is still present.
this poem was written over the course of 2 days and at the great detriment to my school work, which I did complete, but only in between hours of pondering words over and over and over that would best fit with the idea. in a way its still incomplete, perhaps a second stanza could later be inserted but I liked this end result so much I decided to post as is.
its my first nod at God in a poem in a long time. so for me, it means hope.
just call me I AM is a direct reference to my relationship with God. In Exodus Moses speaks with God directly on the mountain of Sinai and asks him his name. God replies I am that I am. A loose translation more accurately translated means I be that I be.
For me my relationship with God, or the Infinite, makes me, and everyone else, indestructible.
I see, thank you for the explanation! Beautiful piece. After you describe how it's a nod to God it makes such wonderful sense, so thank you.
Way to listen to your inner self. Very impressive and motivating =)
