Democratic Primary is Over
Just watched this vid a little bit ago from Crooks and Liars. It's Obama's speech from last night, the last night of the Democratic Primary for this coming election. After our discussion over Skype, watching this, and Hillary's speech from last night, I cant help but wonder if they are actually going to run together. A good portion of his speech is praise for Hillary and a sureness of her involvement in the years to come. It seemed as though he was prepping his supporters to accept her. Hillary's speech did not mention throwing in the towel, despite the fact that numerically she can no longer win the nomination. She simply thanks her supporters and makes no mention of what's to come. Both campaigns have broken records for fund raising and getting people involved in voting and it's not even the general election. If they combined the momentum of their campaigns in terms of people involvement and fund raising, I'd be pretty surprised if they wouldn't completely steamroll McCain at the polls in November. On the flip side, I don't think that Obama would need Hillary to clinch a victory in November. Perhaps he will choose Edwards as his running mate, but I think there's a strong likeliness that the two former foes will join forces. Time will tell.

Seems both the media and Obama agree that it's over.
Hmm, can't wait to see how it all pans out. Would be cool for them to unite forces but my non-politics watching mind just doesn't see it...an opinion with no basis really.
In other news, looks like that rent-control prop got opposed! Yay for me!
Well as long as they're following the normal democratic party system and no one is breaking any laws or changing the rules, the Democratic Party must agree as well that Obama is the winner. I'd imagine there'll be some sort of press conference in the next day or so from the party heads.
and fuck yeah! that's awesome prop news Lorigga! =D
have you heard anything about the other two?
Ya I dont really see it happening either. Of course Obama is going to praise Hillary up and down in his final speech because other wise her supporters wont vote for him. You are right to assume that momentum will be joined, I just dont think Hillary needs to be there for that to occur. Shes put her foot in her mouth one too many times in the last few months for her to be a valid VP candidate though. Her comments about Robert Kennedy were absolutely horrendous and it left a bad taste in all liberal Democrats mouths all over the nation. From what Ive been gathering from liberal media it was the last straw. She just looks desperate now to everyone but her most die hard supporters. We will see though. No one knows for sure what the future will ahead. I just dont think that this speech is in any way trying to prepare us for a VP nod in Clintons direction. Hes just playing the game and doing so well.
hey Moose I did just listen to the speech once more and I payed closer attention. I could totally see where your coming from in thinking that he could choose Hillary for VP. In his speech he grants her every praise imaginable short of saying that shes the sexiest women on Earth and every man would be lucky to smell her feet.
Hes really trying to cement in her role as an ally for his campaign. I guess only time will tell for sure. All the analysts I heard seemed to think other wise but those fools arent always right. I personally dont like her but that has very little to do with what Obama's advisor's will pick at the end of the day.
hey, down for some Warcraft III? hehe
Liberal Media! LOL!
You know thats just something republicans make up to scare their constituents right?
Yeah tonight might work out for some online gaming cuz Ville and his gf are going out to a show in sf.
Hehe, you dont believe in liberal media? Even Keith Olberman? Dude Keith does not worship Muloc, cmon...he cant....that would be....I wont even go there. A world where Keith is pulling double agent, thats not a happy world that I believe in. hehe.
Murloc?
Liable Medias?
OMGWTF, Porn DVD sales are down!
Honestly though, I don't know too much about Keith Olberman. I can say I've seen some very good clips from mainstream media. It's been a LONG time since I've watched pundits, etc. I think a few years now. When I stopped there were no personalities I could identify with. Oftentimes I just felt the pundit/analyst was lambasting about every-wthich-thing they could imagine as opposed to presenting a good argument.
My other issue was that many times these guys would make statements based on "research" which have no basis or come from questionable studies.
I miss hardball journalism. It would be nice to see a in depth well documented look at all of this from a solid journalist.
if any of you have recommendations that would be awesome. I just don't have the proper radar equipment for that info...just the fact that porn sales are down...
I'm pretty much referring to major media outlets. Keith Olberman is pretty cool, I have enjoyed and even posted some of his show on the blog. But MSNBC as a whole, I most definitely would not consider "Liberal Media". They are just as shady as every other news station in terms of war promoting and beating dead horse non-issues. And as for double agent status... he did used to work for FOX... hehe
I feel you on the journalism concerns Lorriga and thats pretty much why I don't watch tv news shows. Too many times when I have watched tv news they're trying to sensationalize something more than look at a particular subject in depth. You have to sift through too much bullshit to get to anything of real substance. As far as recommendations... Crooks and Liars.
Wow Keith Olberman used to work for Fox? Holy fuck! Thats crazy! He is double! Oh well, at least hes the light side now. Ya, I agree that most of these guys just circle jerk around each other but "hardball" journalism does occur on MSNBC from time to time. Chiefly through Keith Olberman, Ron turned me onto him and Ive been listening ever since. He never supports the war, never supports racism, and pretty much takes no stance in issues like Clinton vs Obama. He called them both out when he felt they were inaccurate in their comments. Ive enjoyed watching him for the last month because hes been the only voice on MSNBC he has been saying, "Why is Hillary still running?!" even going as far as to say "If we just stopped talking about her thatd be the end of it" hinting that media is the only reason why Hillary can keep public interest. I agree. He didnt stop talking about her though, and that made me think, he may be aware of the media problem but hes also choosing to still contribute to it. Ive been down that road and I can say, its a dangerous road to walk. I still like him but I guess in the end I dont trust anyone on t.v., ever.
