Marathons anyone?

I need to put this out there NOW. I've mentioned this to Ron in passing at the Gym. You know, while were running a measly 2 or 3 (maybe 1.5) miles on the assisted running machines.

Essentially, I want to run a marathon in the next three to four years. If you don't know, a marathon is roughly 26 miles (sometimes a little more). Many people will start training a good year in advance. It will take me a LOT longer but I really feel the need to strive for something. I need a workout goal. Yes, just wanting to be healthy is nice, but I think it would be amazing to strive for running a marathon. Liz (my sister's friend) ran one, said it was hell. I want to experience this hell. I want to conquer it. Especially because at one point when my knees started hurting I thought running was out of the question. Since working out though, I've realized, it's not. It's more about that persistent effort through time. A lesson that can be applied to ALL facets of my life, something I just never fully internalized while growing up.

I'm rambling now.

And for shits and giggles, here are some marathons I DON'T plan on running.

I also put this out here because by putting this intention and sharing it with you all, I will feel a deeper sense of need to accomplish this. I also want to know if anyone is interested this goal as well.

ps If I had the time, I would so photoshop the brigade faces on those elvis heads!

Um... I can run like 2 miles... maybe... on the flat. Not particularly fond of running (read "I hate running..."), but I need to get in shape, so I'd be willing to see how far I can get my butt. I'm cool off the crazy snow marathons where your eyeballs freeze though.

Nice goal. Its a steep goal for most of us in our current physical conditions but that doesnt necessarily mean to much in the long run. Ive achieved all sorts of things that I never would have thought possible just 2 years ago. I wish you all the support I have to offer. I dont know about joining up myself though. Im not a big runner, I love running, it just dont love me. Im more of an endurance walker. Haha, Mount Everest count me in, Marathon, woah now, thats just too crazy. Still, only time will tell what the future has in store for me, and Im the last person youl ever hear say the words I cant. Lets just say that I really would like to see it happen for you. Dream the dream, live the dream.
